Marina Auto Stadium — Rochester, NY -- Match #9 - Hobie #4
` May 29, 2010 — 7:00 p.m.
What's at stake? Rochester aims to snap a two-game losing skid tonight as they host the Vancouver Whitecaps for the final time.
The Whitecaps, who will enter Major League Soccer as an expansion team in 2011, defeated Rochester 2-0 last weekend at Swangard
Stadium in British Columbia.
Vancouver, the NASL Conference laters are also the stingiest team in the e league, surrendering just two goals in seven starts. The only
match the club has allowed a goal was in, a.2-1 loss to Portland on April 29". Vancouver ‘keeper Jay Nolly has not allowed a goal in 274
consecutive minutes.
Tonight’s match is the 20" time the two teams have met dating back to 1996. Rochester trails the all-time series 7-9-3 but lead at home
with a 5-3-1 mark. Š à
Familiar Faces: Vancouver midfielder Martin Nash and Rochester midfielder Tyler Rosenlund are among the league leaders in
assists. Nash, a former Rhino leads the league with three helpers while Roseniund, a Vancouver native has two. Nash, a member of
Rochester’s 2000 and 2001 USL-1 Championship teams shares the club’s single season mark for assists in a season with nine:
Rochester Head Coach Bob Lilley led the Whitecaps to the 2006 USL-1 title over Rochester at Marina Auto Stadium. The 3-0 win was the
first for Lilley as head coach. He left Vancouver after posting a 33-20-31 mark from 2005-07.
Need one, have one: Rochester forward Andrew Hoxie was loaned this week to the Harrisburg City Islanders (PDL). Hoxie had one
goal in five appearances for Rochester and is expected back next week.
League News: After struggling to start the season, Crystal Palace Baltimore has won three out of four matches to improve to 3-4-1.
Their ten points place them just two points behind NASL Conference leader Vancouver. Their recent stretch includes two wins over
Portland who, after beginning the season winning three of four, are now winless in four straight.
Miami FC began the season with draws in each of their first five matches. Since then they have gone 1-1 in the most recent two matches.
The Austin Aztex (17) and Tampa Bay! Rowdies (15) rank one and two in the league in scoring this season. Rochester (9) ranks third.
Next up: Rochester will remain at home on Friday, June 4 when they take on the NSC Minnesota Stars at Marina Auto Stadium. Kickoff
for that match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
